This includes:
- Safety for the intended use
- Cosmetic appearance
- Structural integrity
- Propulsion
- Machinery
- Plumbing
- Pumps
- Rigging (at deck level)
- Out of water inspection
Insurance Surveys
This is an inspection performed so that the insurance company and underwriter can determine whether or not the vessel is an acceptable risk.
They are interested in the intended use of the vessel, the structural integrity, the market value and the safety for its intended use.
This survey is often requested periodically by your insurance company if the vessel is over 10 years old. The survey is performed to the same standard as a pre-purchase survey, but concentrates on the risk to the insurance company. You should never accept a sellers insurance survey as a pre-purchase survey.

Bottom Inspection Surveys
This is often a good idea when having your boat slipped or antifouled. It will check the condition of the hull, rudder, keel, skin fitting, skeg, shaft and trim tabs etc. This inspection along with a good log of maintenance receipts, will be accepted by most insurance companies.
